Workshop 2: Facilitating Transfer for Students of Color

Program Description
One barrier to students of color who transition from one post-secondary institution to another is that the transfer process into the receiving institution is cumbersome, designed to meet the needs of the institution than in addressing the curricular and non-curricular needs of transfer students of color. What are these barriers in the transfer process specific to students of color? How can we better meet the needs of transfer students of color by coordination of admissions, transfer credit evaluation, orientation programs, student success programs, and advising programs for these students? Participants will work through the issues transfer students of color face and will identify several concrete steps the can take at their institutions.
