Workshop 11: Create Your Story: Clear Steps and Tangible Outcomes for Students Exploring Majors

Program Description
Add tangible steps (GPS) to your advising approach that benefit advisor and advisee. While we may know advising theory and the progress we want advisees to make, is the process clear to advisees? If they're not onboard, how can advisors help them move forward? We'll discuss the Create Your Story model we've instituted: background, implementation, and how we feel this serves current college student needs. Students today are often described as needing structure and support as they explore and struggle to be in charge of their development, direction, and awareness. We'll discuss giving tangible structure to advising to further improve efficiency. Making structure tangible can help any school where students work to find a "best fit" field of study.
